Top Ways to Pack a Great Suitcase

Traveling is one of those experiences that can be both exciting and exhausting. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or someone who's just starting to explore the world, packing efficiently is key to making your journey smoother and less stressful. This post isn't just about packing light—it’s about packing smart. For starters, let's talk fashion. When you're traveling, you want to look good but also feel comfortable. One tip I always follow is to select a limited color palette, focusing on neutrals like black, gray, and beige. This allows you to mix and match your outfits easily, giving you more variety without overloading your suitcase. I personally stick to a wardrobe of mostly black and gray, with a few colorful pieces thrown in for fun. Another important rule is to only pack items you feel comfortable wearing at home. If you wouldn't wear it at home, why would you wear it on the road? Layering is also crucial, especially if you're visiting places with varying climates. I always bring a bulky sweater and a scarf for colder destinations, but I layer them strategically so I can adjust as needed. Bringing a little bit of home with you can make a big difference, especially when you're spending extended periods in hotels. I love bringing a small travel candle or grabbing one from a nearby store once I arrive. The scent of a familiar aroma can instantly make a strange place feel more like home. Resealable plastic bags are another must-have. They’re lightweight and take up almost no space, but they’re invaluable for keeping your belongings organized and protected. For example, I always double-bag my liquids to avoid any potential spills or leaks. When it comes to beauty, a little goes a long way. A bold lipstick can elevate your look without the need for a full makeup routine. I also swear by tinted moisturizers and multi-purpose products like blush sticks that can double as eyeshadow. Skincare is equally important, especially after a long flight. I recently discovered Aveeno® Sheer Hydration Lotion, and it’s become my go-to for keeping my skin hydrated and soft. The lotion absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue, which is perfect for busy travelers like myself. There are also a few extras that can make your travels easier. An umbrella is always a good idea, no matter where you’re headed. I learned this lesson the hard way when I forgot mine in NYC and ended up drenched in a downpour. Electronics are another essential, especially if you’re working on the go. I always travel with my laptop, iPad, and phone, and I keep a set of headphones in my bag at all times. An eye mask is another lifesaver, especially on long flights or in unfamiliar accommodations. And if you’re a coffee lover like me, consider bringing a reusable travel mug or some of your favorite coffee grounds in a plastic bag. Finally, don’t forget the little things that can make a big difference. Whether it’s a small comfort item or a practical gadget, these extras can turn a good trip into a great one. What are some of your must-haves when you travel? I’d love to hear what you can’t leave home without! xo P.S. Sunscreen is non-negotiable, especially if you’re heading to the beach. We recently had a sunburn incident due to outdated sunscreen, and it reminded us of the importance of always using fresh, high-quality protection. Our beach bag is now stocked with Aveeno® Baby Continuous Protection® Lotion Sunscreen With Broad Spectrum SPF 55, ensuring a safer and happier summer.
