FENAGRA 2023: BRFi presents BioActio Efficiency
At the recent International Fair of Agribusiness Feed & Food, BRF Ingredients made a significant mark by presenting its comprehensive range of Feed and Food products. They also unveiled their latest innovation in the market: BioActio Efficiency, an Enzymatic Hydrolysate of Feathers. This unique product is crafted from feathers that undergo a meticulous enzymatic hydrolysis process, transforming them into a nutrient-rich ingredient.
The process of enzymatic hydrolysis is fascinating. It breaks down protein molecules into smaller fragments, creating an ingredient brimming with bioactive peptides. These peptides play a crucial role in enhancing the health and metabolism of animals across various sectors of Animal Nutrition. Scientific studies have shown that incorporating BioActio Efficiency into the diets of aquatic and swine species leads to more efficient animal feeding and better cost-effectiveness for producers.
One of the standout features of BioActio Efficiency is its ability to boost animal performance. The bioactive peptides present in this ingredient possess specific functionalities when introduced into an animal’s system, offering antioxidant and antidiabetic properties confirmed by in vitro analysis. This makes a significant difference in terms of weight gain and food conversion rates. The ingredient is highly absorbable and metabolizes quickly within the animal’s body, contributing to these improvements.
Another advantage lies in the ingredient’s low molecular weight, with all bioactive peptides measuring under 3,500 Da. This ensures a high apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC), which is linked to enhanced palatability thanks to the free amino acids generated during the enzymatic hydrolysis of raw materials.
In trials involving tilapia, BioActio Efficiency showed impressive results. In the post-larvae stage, fish weight gain increased by 41%, while in the fingerling stage, it rose by 25%. The food conversion rate also saw a remarkable improvement of 31% (post-larvae) and 18% (fingerlings), accompanied by a final growth rate increase of 42% (post-larvae) and 23% (fingerlings).
For shrimp farming, the inclusion of BioActio Efficiency in the nursery phase improved key zootechnical metrics by 4% (weight), 15% (biomass), and 6% (food conversion rate). During the fattening phase, the ingredient contributed to an 18% increase in weight, a 17% rise in biomass, and a 5% enhancement in feed conversion efficiency.
In swine nutrition, BioActio Efficiency demonstrated exceptional palatability, leading to an 87% preference for piglet feed. These findings, among others, are substantiated by rigorous testing and research conducted by BRF Ingredients, alongside partner universities and research institutions. These results were compared against control diets and traditional fish hydrolysates.
In conclusion, BioActio Efficiency represents a groundbreaking advancement in animal nutrition, offering a multitude of benefits that contribute to healthier, more productive livestock. Its innovative approach and scientific backing make it a valuable asset for farmers and producers looking to optimize their operations and achieve greater profitability.
