Reasonable use of impeller aerator
There are various types of aerators used in China, but impeller aerators are the most commonly used in pond aquaculture. This is due to their versatility, as they perform multiple functions such as water circulation, aeration, mixing, and oxygenation. These features make them particularly suitable for managing water quality in still-water ponds, where maintaining proper oxygen levels is crucial. Additionally, impeller aerators are known for their high oxygenation efficiency, making them an efficient choice for aquaculture systems.
Impeller-type aerators come in different shapes and sizes, but they all share similar core components: a motor, gear reducer, support frame, impeller, and buoy. During operation, the machine performs several key functions simultaneously. As the impeller rotates, it draws in oxygen-depleted water from below and expels it upward, transforming stagnant water into well-aerated, circulating water. The blades and agitating pipe create strong turbulence beneath the surface, generating waves that form a curtain of water capable of trapping air.
This process significantly increases the surface area at the air-water interface and reduces the thickness of the gas-liquid boundary layer, accelerating the dissolution of oxygen into the water. At the same time, harmful gases such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, methane, and sulfur dioxide are released from the water through aeration and released into the atmosphere.
As the impeller rotates, it creates a vacuum behind the water mixing pipe, drawing in air through the water intake tube and rapidly breaking it into micro-bubbles. These bubbles are then mixed into the water under the impeller’s pressure, further enhancing oxygen transfer. The continuous movement of water also ensures that lower layers are constantly mixed with surface water, while surface water is replenished by gravity. This vertical mixing helps break the uniform distribution of dissolved oxygen in the pond, allowing aquatic organisms to benefit more effectively from the oxygenation process. Overall, impeller aerators play a vital role in maintaining healthy and productive aquaculture environments.
