Flower drilling and fertilization
The fertilization of flowers and trees is traditionally done by digging an annular or radial groove. However, this method is not only labor-intensive but also tends to cause significant damage to the root systems of plants. In recent years, some flower growers have started using a more efficient approach—drilling holes around the base of the plants. This technique is much easier to implement, saves time and effort, and minimizes root damage. Additionally, it allows for better utilization of organic fertilizers commonly found in rural areas, reducing waste and improving soil health.
The drilling method for long-term fertilization over 2–3 years involves creating a series of holes along the drip line of the tree or plant’s canopy. Typically, 4–5 holes with a diameter of about 30 cm are drilled at regular intervals around the base. These holes are then filled with organic materials such as leaves, straw, animal manure, and crop residues. To prevent the holes from being filled with soil during rain, small stones can be placed on top. When it's time to apply fertilizer, simply remove the stones and pour the nutrients into the holes. This method ensures that the fertilizer is directly absorbed by the roots, enhancing nutrient uptake and promoting healthier growth.
