Prevent crab escape
There are approximately five main reasons why crabs escape from their ponds. First, when crabs are initially introduced to a new environment, they often struggle to adapt. This can cause them to wander around the pond, increasing the likelihood of escape. To prevent this, it's recommended to acclimate them in a smaller area—about 1 to 2 mu of water surface—for a short period before moving them to the main pond. Once they adjust, they can be transferred safely.
Second, a lack of sufficient food can lead to aggressive behavior among crabs and also encourage them to leave in search of better resources. To avoid this, farmers should ensure adequate feeding. In spring, for example, adding 200 kilograms of fresh snails per acre can help provide natural food sources. During the growing season, feed twice daily, with the amount equaling 5% to 10% of the total crab biomass. The diet should primarily consist of animal-based foods, with some plant matter added for balance.
Third, sudden weather changes, especially heavy rain or strong winds, can stress crabs and trigger escape attempts. One effective measure is to raise the water level before bad weather and then lower it back to normal after the storm passes.
Fourth, poor ecological conditions such as low water clarity, insufficient dissolved oxygen, or inadequate aquatic vegetation can make the pond unsuitable for crabs. This often leads them to seek better environments. To maintain good conditions, keep the water level stable at over 50%, change the water every 2–4 days during the growth season, and apply lime every 15 days. This helps maintain a dissolved oxygen level above 4 mg/L, a pH between 7.5 and 8, and a transparency of 30–40 cm.
Lastly, during the reproductive phase, especially when river crabs mature and prepare to migrate, they may attempt to escape the pond. This is more common before and after frost, especially when there are strong northwest winds or heavy rains. To prevent this, reinforce the pond’s escape barriers and harvest mature crabs promptly to reduce stress and migration attempts.
By addressing these factors, farmers can significantly reduce crab escapes and improve overall pond management.
1. Rice Protein - Feed Grade Specification
our rice protein powder feed grade is crafted through the natural fermentation of rice starch, delivering a protein concentration of 50% to 70%. This nutrient-dense feed additive plays a crucial role in promoting healthy animal growth and improving immunity, helping to protect livestock from common illnesses. Available in a wide range of mesh sizes, from 45 to 1000, it is easily incorporated into animal fodder to support the overall well-being and strength of livestock. Rich in energy, this plant-based protein offers a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to fish and meat-based ingredients, ensuring both optimal nutrition and economic benefits for farmers.
The protein is derived from the same high-quality rice base used for food-grade products, but the minimal processing makes it more suitable for ruminant animals and other herbivores. The final product is a powdered product with a slight yellow shade that has little to no taste and smell. We also produce multiple protein concentrations ranging from 18% to 70%.
