What should pay attention to pigs who feed drowning water

Pigs that have just been purchased need to be given a short rest for about 30 minutes before being offered water. Once their breathing has stabilized, you can start offering them water. It’s best to provide them with slightly salted water, especially during the summer months when dehydration is more common. Before pouring the water into the trough, call the pig to stand up, then slowly pour it into the tank, keeping the depth around 1 cm. Avoid filling the trough too much, as this may cause the pigs to drink too quickly or even fight over the water. Typically, pigs will drink for 3 to 4 minutes, then rest for 2 to 3 minutes in the trough before drinking again for another 2 to 3 minutes. They usually take three rounds of drinking in total. After they finish, lead them back to a dry area to rest. When the pig stops drinking, stop calling and stop pouring the water. After the pigs have had their water, allow them a 30-minute rest period. During hot weather, offer high-quality green feed to help keep them cool and hydrated. In colder conditions, provide warm, thin, and paste-like feeds instead. The amount of feed should be about one-third of the usual quantity—overfeeding can be harmful. Always call the pig to stand up before feeding to ensure they are ready and calm. This helps maintain good feeding habits and prevents stress or discomfort.
