Rose cultivation management

Roses are vibrant and cheerful plants, known for their resilience to cold and drought. They thrive best in temperatures between 15°C and 25°C. These flowers have strong adaptability but prefer well-drained, fertile soil that is neutral or slightly acidic. Loamy soil is ideal for their growth and blooming. Before planting, it's important to enrich the soil with organic compost as a base fertilizer. In the following year, apply four rounds of additional fertilization: one when the plant starts to sprout (between 2-3 months after planting), one before flowering to encourage blooms, another after flowering to support continued growth, and a final wintering fertilizer before the leaves fall. This last application can be slightly heavier to help insulate the roots and improve soil temperature, ensuring the plant survives the Winter safely. For potted roses, it's recommended to use diluted liquid fertilizer every 10 days. Roses are relatively drought-tolerant, but if they don't receive enough water, the lower leaves may drop off, which could eventually harm the plant. When planting roses outdoors, watering is usually not necessary unless during dry seasons or early Spring. However, for potted roses, it’s better to water them every 2-3 days, and daily during the Summer to keep the soil consistently moist. Beyond their beauty, roses are also economically valuable. Their flowers are used in making candied fruits, extracts, and essential oils. Rose oil, in particular, holds high value in the international market. When the flowers bloom, it's crucial to harvest them promptly. If left unharvested, they will only flower once a year. The more frequently you pick the flowers, the more times they will bloom. Harvesting is best done in the early morning when the buds just begin to open. Flowers that are slightly yellow can still be picked, but those with red centers are considered lower quality. Roses typically bloom on new growth, so regular pruning helps maintain vigorous growth, enhances flowering, and improves the overall appearance of the plant. Pruning can be done either before or during the flowering season to promote more blooms and extend the flowering period.
