Jaundice breeding method

1. Site Preparation and Soil Preparation: Select a fertile, well-drained sandy loam or alluvial soil for optimal growth. Avoid areas with poor soil quality, low fertility, heavy clay, or sloped terrain, as these conditions can hinder plant development. Before planting, apply organic fertilizer and perform deep plowing to improve soil structure and nutrient availability. 2. Seed Propagation: (1) Seed Treatment: When cultivating this plant for the first time, it's crucial to properly treat hard seeds. The seed coat should be gently scarified using a roller to enhance germination without damaging the kernel inside. Failure to do so can significantly reduce the emergence rate. (2) Sowing Time: Seeds can be sown in spring, summer, or autumn, but the best time is during the rainy season in June and July. At this time, the soil is moist and warm, which promotes quick germination—usually within 7 days after sowing. In spring, water may be scarce, leading to dry conditions that can harm young seedlings. Sowing near winter results in lower germination rates. (3) Sowing Methods: Direct sowing is commonly used for better seedling uniformity. Ensure even coverage of soil and moderate pressure to support germination. For hole sowing, dig holes spaced 20-25 cm apart, place 3-10 seeds per hole, cover them with 1.5 cm of soil, and use about 1 kg of seeds per mu. (4) Transplanting Seedlings: Seedlings can be either sown directly or drilled into the field. Maintain a spacing of 15-20 cm between plants, using approximately 2 kg of seedlings per mu. After one year of growth, the plants are ready for transplanting at the end of autumn or early spring. Prepare trenches 40-50 cm apart and 10-15 cm deep. Place the roots in the trench, space the plants 15-20 cm apart, cover with soil, and water thoroughly to ensure good establishment.
