Let's talk hair for a moment. If you've been following along, you'll notice that my hair has been mostly up lately—buns, twists, braids. It's hot, folks. Hotter still when you're carrying extra weight in this Florida humidity. Oh, and did I mention both my curling iron and flat iron decided to quit at the same time? Not ideal. I haven't gotten around to replacing them yet, so I'm making do with these updos until I figure out what to get next. (If anyone has recommendations, hit me up!) Meanwhile, our little bunny boy is thriving. We're all gearing up for his arrival any day now—or maybe a couple of weeks from now, depending on how things go. Even our dog is involved in "training," though I think it's more accurate to say she's teaching us how to coexist with a new addition. Right now, I'm supposed to carry around one of Aliyah's baby dolls, treating it like my own. I tried to take this seriously for about two hours, but let's just say that doll has been chilling in the bassinet ever since. Aliyah, however, is fully invested. She keeps asking where the baby is or nudging me toward the room with, "I think the baby is crying." My response? "She's fine. In the bassinet." I think she's starting to wonder if my mom skills are up to par. Warning: More randomness incoming. Chris asked last night if I was getting excited about the baby's arrival. Honestly, I'm beyond thrilled. Adding another little blessing to our family feels surreal. But here's the thing—I've never been the type to rush through stages of parenthood. When people ask if I'm ready, my answer is always honest: "Yes and no." I love this stage. I love nurturing this tiny life growing inside me. There's something comforting about the cocoon of protection we've created for our baby, but also for myself. Motherhood is scary, yes, but there's beauty in that fear because without it, there wouldn't be much reward. As I dream about cute diapers and adorable onesies (trust me, they're adorable), I'm reminded how excited I am to meet this little one. Oh, and speaking of diapers, I've already started practicing my "mom skills" with the doll. Baby steps, right? Because when Aliyah gets home, I want to show her just how ready I am.
