Our Week In Review:: 6.27.12 (And What To Do During A Tropical Storm)

It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another Hump Day Dump around here! This week was one for the books as Tropical Storm Debby decided to park itself over our city and stick around for a while. Instead of sulking about the rain, we embraced the gloomy weather and made the best of it. First stop? The waterpark. When it rains cats and dogs, you're bound to get soaked anyway, so why not make it fun? Next up, the movies. There’s something magical about a rainy day spent inside a cozy theater. Plus, our local theater offers free kids’ movies during the week, so it’s practically a no-brainer. Then came the beach trip. As first-time Floridians, we couldn’t pass up the chance to see those massive waves that only tropical storms can bring. They were impressive—dark and powerful, reminding us how small we are compared to Mother Nature. And let’s not forget the mini-river that formed on our street. What better way to spend the afternoon than splashing around like kids? Oh, and speaking of kids, we had a blast organizing duck races in the middle of our flooded street. Crazy? Maybe. Fun? Absolutely. Of course, my ever-so-responsible weatherman husband kept a close eye on Debby’s movements, making sure we stayed safe. We played hard but remained cautious, knowing there were others who weren’t as lucky. Some of our friends got evacuated due to flooding, and we’ve been doing what we can to help out. Here’s a quick peek at last week’s adventures through photos. I snapped them all on my iPhone using the Instagram app and put them together using Big Huge Labs’ mosaic maker. It’s such a simple and free way to capture memories. If you’re looking for me on Instagram, I’m @TabithaBlue. [Insert image collage here] That’s it for this week’s Hump Day Dump. Hope you enjoyed the visual journey. Life is too short not to find joy even in unexpected situations. Have a great rest of your week! [Insert signature image here] P.S.
