Zero Tariff Boosts Taiwan's Tea Landing on the Mainland

Taiwan tea is cultivated in a unique ecological environment and natural agricultural practices. It strictly controls agricultural residues, uses safe and non-toxic qualities, and has special Taiwanese flavors, which has caused a "typhoon" in the Chinese tea market. Together with the signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, Taiwan’s tea industry has reduced its export tariffs to zero, and Taiwanese tea industry companies have reported that their performance has grown significantly.

On the 16th, “Yunxiang Yuanyun”, located at 135 Gonggong Road, Xiamen City, opened. It is reported that Taiwan’s eco-toxic mountain tea, which was introduced by Yunxiang Yuanyun (Xiamen) Ecological Tea Co., Ltd., brought together teas from Fushou Mountain, Dagu Ridge, Lishan, Shanlinxi, Yushan, Alishan, Lugu and Mingjian. Produced areas of tea, including Qingxin Oolong, Oolong black tea, Oriental Beauty Tea, Royal Tea and other representative mountain tea in Taiwan. All products passed the international authoritative certification body SGS (Swiss GM Notarization Group) pesticide residue testing, reaching the standards of exporting to the EU and Japan to ensure product safety and non-toxic.

The reporter visited the tea market and discovered that with the strengthening of cross-strait exchanges and the signing of the Cross-Strait Economic Agreement (ECFA), Taiwan’s tea exporters will enter the zero-tariff era this year, and Taiwan’s tea traders will accelerate their “heredding herons” and seize the beach market, including Wenshan Baocai. Taiwan tea such as tea, alpine oolong tea and frozen top oolong tea is increasingly known and loved by mainland consumers. At the same time, mainland tea companies that have seen vast market prospects have also gone to Taiwan to purchase. Today, some tea specialty stores in China can also find Taiwanese tea. Another Zheng Fuxing tea industry, also from Taiwan, has been recognized by Xiamen as a famous trademark.

According to Xuewen Chen, President of the Alishan Tea Association, the sales of Taiwan tea such as Alishan Takayama tea and Taiwanese frozen top Oolong in the mainland market have grown rapidly in recent years. The Alishan Tea Association has plans to set up an office in the mainland. Lin Zhaozheng, chairperson of the freeze-top tea industry production cooperative in Lugu Township, Nantou County, Taiwan, introduced that the cooperative has more than 2,000 hectares of tea plants, and nearly half of the frozen top Oolong tea is sold to the mainland market each year. The "red jade" black tea produced in Taiwan is also basically digested by the mainland market. Many black teas are sold throughout the country through the Xiamen market.

According to industry briefings, the mainland Taiwan tea market is still at a primary stage of development. There has been a chaotic development in the market. Many "table teas" from Vietnam and the mainland have flooded the market with false realities and high prices. “Compared with other Taiwanese teas on the market, our Taiwanese ecological tea can be 100% native tea, 100% non-additive, 100% zero pesticide, and 100% traceable.” Yun Xiang Yuan Yun (Xiamen) Ecology The person in charge of the Tea Industry Co., Ltd. told the reporter that he hopes to make the “typhoon” in the tea industry stronger by promoting the use of ecologically non-toxic mountain tea.
