Raising chickens after heavy rains

In the summer and autumn seasons when heavy rains occur in the past few days, some poorly built henhouses may experience leakage, causing the house to be wet, litter wet, and chickens susceptible to disease. To this end, we must strengthen management in four areas:

Prevention of coccidia

After a heavy rain, the warm and moist environment is most conducive to the development of coccidial oocysts. If the birds are crowded, improperly kept or poorly sanitized, the chickens can easily outbreak coccidiosis. To prevent morbidity, we should promptly replace the damp litter, remove the water in the shed, keep the environment, dry the litter, and add anticoccidial drugs to the feed. Note that the combined use time of each anticoccidial drug should generally not exceed 5 days.

Drinking water disinfection

After a heavy rain, there is water everywhere around the chicken farm. If the stocking method is adopted, the chicken can easily drink unclean water and become ill. Trenches should be drained in time, and chickens should be disinfected at the same time. The ratio of 1:5000 can be used to disinfect drinking water with 100 toxins, allowing the chicken to drink freely, or add 6-10 grams of bleaching powder per ton of water. Stir well and let it stand for 30 minutes to allow the chicken to drink. It can also be used to kill poisonous bacteria. 1:5000 dilution, stir and put for 2 hours to allow the chicken to drink. The use of potassium permanganate, dubbed 0.01% solution for the chicken to drink, along with the drink, let the chicken drink 2 to 3 times a week, can be disinfected, but also as a manganese supplement.

Increase ventilation

After the heavy rain, it is necessary to ventilate and ventilate the chicken house, especially the brooding room in time, so as to avoid air turbidity and increase the ammonia concentration, causing chicken ammonia poisoning.

Disinfect chicken

After continuous heavy rain, we must pay close attention to sunny days to do a good job with chicken disinfection. Commonly used disinfectants include 100 toxins, baijie, peracetic acid, sodium hypochlorite, and benzalkonium chloride. When the chicken is sterilized, an automatic spray device with good atomization effect can be used, and the size of the mist particles is controlled to be 80 to 120 μm, and the nozzle is preferably about 50 cm from the chicken body.
