The eight methods of raising and managing hatchlings

The turtle hatched from the egg is called a hatchling. When juvenile tortoises hatch out, they usually have a body weight of 3 to 13 grams. Their bodies are young, their activities are weak, and they are not adapted to the environment. If they are not carefully cultivated, they will easily cause death. Therefore, grasping the cultivation of juvenile tortoises is the most crucial part of raising turtles. Here are eight points for the development of hatchlings for reference.

collect

When the juvenile crawls out of the shell, it cannot be immediately taken out, crawls on the sand for 1 to 3 hours, and then puts it in a tub or plastic basin for 2 to 3 days, allowing the umbilical cord to dry off and converge, and the body becomes curly. For the straight level, the yolk sac completely absorbs, preventing the yolk sac from scratching and being infected by bacteria. The standard juvenile tortoise is completely umbilical cord, umbilicus closed, the individual quality is greater than 4 grams, the activity is sensitive, healthy, disease-free, no injury.

disinfection

Before juvenile tortoises enter the pool, soaking with 500-800 mg/L vitamin C for 10 minutes will not only increase the survival rate of hatchlings, but also increase their growth.

Into the pool

The juvenile turtle pool is preferably made up of 4 to 10 square meters of indoor cement pool with a water depth of 10 to 20 centimeters. The feed table is set at 2 centimeters underwater. There is a sun place for rest and sun drying. The bottom of the pond is sanded 5 to 10 cm. There is no sand grain under the feed to ensure fresh water quality.

density

A reasonable stocking density can increase its survival rate and accelerate the growth of juvenile tortoises, so the density should be about 100 per square meter.

Feeding

The energy and nutrients needed for the hatchling hatchlings are fully provided by the yolk. The hatchery's feed requirements are fresh, tender, fine, soft, easily digestible, and attractive. Feeding should be timed, positioned, qualitative, and quantitative. After hatching for 3 days, hatchlings were fed with a small amount of cooked egg yolks. After 5 days, the fish, shrimps, snails, clams, and livestock and poultry viscera and other foods were added. The ratio of animal and vegetable foods was 2 :1. The feeding amount accounts for 5% to 10% of the total amount of hatchlings and is fed twice a day. At 8-9AM, 5-6PM, it is advisable to finish it in 2 hours.

Water quality management

Water sources are preferably non-polluting rivers, lakes and reservoirs.

The water quality must maintain a certain plankton, the color is yellowish green, the transparency is 25-30 centimeters, and the pH is 7-8. Remove the residual bait that sinks into the bottom of the tank every day. Change the water every 2 days. Clean the bottom of the tank and disinfect it when changing the water.

The water temperature is controlled at 25-30°C. Summer heat season, to take measures to prevent heatstroke, when changing the water should pay special attention to the new, Chen Shui water temperature difference can not be too large, generally not more than 2 ~ 3 °C, otherwise the turtle is susceptible to disease.

surroundings

The turtles are calm and happy, Xiyang, Xijie, fear of cold, fear of the wind, and fear of dirt. Therefore, the environment around the hatchling pool should be leeward, sunny, quiet, warm, and avoid pollution and noise.

Predator

During the development of hatchlings, care should be taken to prevent enemies such as snakes, rats, birds, and cats from invading animals.
