Responsibility for ensuring food safety

In recent years, the State Food and Drug Administration, in accordance with the work plan of the Office of the State Council's Food Safety Committee and the National Food Safety and Reorganization Office, has proceeded with measures to improve supervision systems, innovate regulatory mechanisms, carry out special rectification, and strengthen daily supervision, and further promote food and beverage services. Safely rectify and continuously strengthen the construction of the supervision team, all work is being promoted in a forceful and orderly manner.

At present, the food safety situation in China's catering services is generally stable and maintains a favorable trend. However, due to the objective status quo of the “multi, small, scattered, and low” catering industry, coupled with the imperfect supervision mechanism, the difficulty of supervision is obvious. Therefore, only when food and beverage operators regulate their operations, and the regulatory authorities scrupulously perform their duties and consumers safeguard their rights in accordance with the law, the food on the table of the broad masses of the people will be more secure.

First of all, the responsibilities of food and beverage operators are indispensable. In order to truly satisfy the food safety needs of food and beverage operators, we must, while strengthening the building of good faith and moral construction, strike hard and form a strong deterrent force to truly manage food safety from the source.

Second, the supervisor's responsibility must not be lost. The food safety supervision and management of catering services is onerous task. All levels of supervision departments and personnel must work together, be full of responsibility, constantly innovate supervision methods, and establish the supervision and management foundation for table safety.

In addition, the responsibility of consumer rights protection is indispensable. To increase consumer awareness of rights protection, we must strengthen the promotion of catering services food safety knowledge. The relevant government departments must also actively provide good protection for consumers’ rights protection and solve the problem of consumers’ time and economic costs in protecting their rights according to law.
