Add vitamin E and carotene
Practical experience has shown that adding a certain amount of carotene and vitamin E to the diet of female rabbits can significantly improve their reproductive performance. The recommended method is to start on the third day after weaning the kits. For each kilogram of body weight, administer 40 mg of vitamin E and 80 mg of carotene daily. When the female rabbit is in estrus, reduce the dosage by half and continue feeding for 20 days. This practice helps enhance fertility and increases the chances of multiple births.
Slap method
After mating, gently tapping the female rabbit's hindquarters can help increase litter size. This technique works by causing the muscles around the vulva to contract, which in turn causes the uterus to contract slightly. This contraction helps push the semen deeper into the vaginal canal, reducing its loss and increasing the likelihood of successful fertilization.
Compounding method
After the first mating, it's advisable to mate the female rabbit again with the same male rabbit every 5–6 hours. This repeated mating process enhances the fertility rate of the female and increases the number of offspring per litter. It ensures that more sperm is available to meet the eggs, improving the overall success of the breeding cycle.
In addition to these methods, maintaining good nutrition, proper hygiene, and a stress-free environment are also crucial for maximizing reproductive outcomes in rabbits. Regular health checks and monitoring of estrus cycles can further support successful breeding programs.
