China's rapid drug inspection technology has attracted international attention

On September 27, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Life Science Forum Symposium on Drug Safety and Detection Technology was held in Beijing. The seminar was hosted by APEC and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), co-organized by China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) and organized by the China Institute for Food and Drug Control.

The purpose of this meeting is to share information on drug safety and quality detection and prevention technologies among APEC member countries; to discuss the application of quick inspection techniques, to improve the ability of APEC member states to combat counterfeit drugs, and to discuss in depth how to implement APEC’s life. SFDA deputy director Bian Zhenjia said in the speech at the conference that APEC, as a high-level inter-governmental economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region, is playing a role in promoting economic cooperation and exchanges among member countries, especially in promoting the improvement of drug safety protection level among countries. Great effect.

Bian Zhenjia said that drug safety is directly related to people's life and health, and ensuring the quality and safety of drugs is an irresistible responsibility of any government. All along, the SFDA has made unremitting efforts to lead drug regulatory agencies at all levels in the country to achieve new developments in the regulatory industry. The drug safety situation has clearly improved, and has actively and steadily responded to a series of important events, events, and urgency in order to protect and improve the people's livelihood and promote the economy. The coordinated development of the society has made outstanding contributions. SFDA strives to explore scientific regulatory measures and proposes that drug supervision should adhere to the concept of scientific supervision. Drugs are high-tech special commodities, and supervision must use high-tech means. China attaches great importance to the construction of a technical support system.

In recent years, China has invested heavily in technical support systems such as review and evaluation, certification and accreditation, inspection and testing, and monitoring and evaluation. Regarding only the drug testing system, during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, the national drug inspection agencies invested nearly 4 billion yuan in laboratory renovations and equipment, and purchased nearly 7,000 sets of various types of inspection equipment. In recent years, in accordance with the overall requirements for the reform of China's pharmaceutical and health system, we have made ensuring the quality of essential drugs the primary task, implementing full-species coverage testing for essential drugs, promoting electronic supervision, attaching importance to the supervision and inspection of manufacturing enterprises, and strengthening the monitoring system for adverse reactions. . Focusing on essential medicines, efforts have been made to improve drug safety in an all-round way. China's pharmaceutical economy has grown rapidly. In 2010, China's pharmaceutical industry has reached 1.2 trillion yuan, which is much higher than the GDP growth rate over the same period. This has laid a solid industrial foundation for ensuring drug safety.

It is reported that in order to crack down on counterfeit and inferior medicines distributed in rural areas, SFDA commissioned the China Food and Drug Testing Institute to develop a drug testing vehicle for the rapid screening of drugs on the spot.

Since March 2006, it has provided 70 million U.S. dollars for 400 drug testing vehicles for 330 prefecture-level cities and 33 county-level cities across the country. The trial operation of the second-generation drug testing vehicle has been carried out in Guangdong Province with satisfactory results.

At the same time, China's drug rapid detection technology has attracted the attention of the international community. Since 2009, the International Drug Rapid Detection Technology Forum (IFRDT) has been held every two years to promote the exchange and cooperation of rapid inspection technologies. The 2nd International Pharmaceutical Rapid Detection Technology Forum will be held in Hangzhou in November 2011.
